Product Overview

The Zebra DS9308 is a presentation scanner — it stands upright on the counter and scans whatever is held in front of it, so the cashier never has to pick up a device. It reads 1D and 2D codes, including QR codes on a customer's phone, and it does it fast: a swipe speed of up to 120 in. per second on a standard 13 mil UPC barcode. When something will not fit in front of it, you lift the unit off its base and use it in the hand.

For Indian retail this is the format that fixes queue length. At a supermarket, pharmacy or QSR counter the operator's hands stay free for bagging and cash, and customers can present their own UPI QR or coupon to the scanner. The footprint is deliberately small — 3.4 in. wide — because Indian billing counters rarely have spare space. Why Choose This Product?

A presentation scanner is not automatically better than a handheld one, and it costs more. It occupies permanent counter space, it needs to be positioned so both the cashier and the customer can reach it, and for large or heavy items the operator still has to lift it out of the stand. How to Use

1. Stand the scanner on the counter where both the operator and the customer can reach the window, and plug the USB cable into your billing PC.
2. Wait for the power-up beep. It works as a keyboard, so no driver is needed for standard use.
3. Open Notepad and hold a barcode in front of the window — it should decode without any button press.
4. Click into your billing software's barcode field and start scanning. For an Enter key after each scan, scan the relevant setup barcode from the DS9308 guide or use Zebra 123Scan.
5. For a large or fixed item, lift the unit out of its base and use it as a handheld scanner with the trigger.
