Product Overview
The Zebra DS2278 is the cordless version of the DS2208. It is a Bluetooth handheld imager that reads every common 1D barcode and 2D code β QR, DataMatrix, PDF417, Aztec β including codes shown on a mobile phone screen, and it does it without a cable running back to the till. It pairs over standard Bluetooth 4.0 with BLE, works up to 30 ft / 10 m from the host, and up to 300 ft / 100 m when paired with the matching CR2278 cradle.
Cordless is worth paying for when the goods cannot come to the scanner. Furniture, appliance and building-material showrooms. Stockroom and rack counting. Godown goods-inward where cartons sit on a pallet across the floor. Hotel and hospital stores. Restaurant table-side ordering. The DS2278 runs 84 hours or about 110,000 scans on one charge of its 2,400 mAh battery, so a single overnight charge covers a full working day comfortably with margin.

Why Choose This Product?
Cordless costs more and adds two things to manage: a battery and a pairing. The DS2278 is also heavier than the corded DS2208 (214 g against 162 g) and its warranty is 36 months rather than 60. If your scanner never leaves a fixed billing counter, the corded DS2208 is cheaper, lighter and warranted longer β buy that instead and do not pay for mobility you will not use.
But when the operator has to walk to the stock, a cable is not a minor inconvenience β it is the reason stock counts get done badly or not at all. Eighty-four hours of battery means one charge covers a full week of moderate use, and batch mode keeps the scanner working when it drifts out of Bluetooth range. Paired with the CR2278 cradle it also doubles as a presentation scanner at the counter and charges while it sits there, which makes it a single device for both counter billing and floor work.
Applications
Showrooms and large-format retail
Furniture, appliance, tile and building-material showrooms where the item cannot be carried to the till β walk to the product, scan the tag, walk back with the price already in the bill.
Warehouse and godown stock counting
Physical stock verification along racks and pallet stacks, with batch mode holding scans when the host is out of range and uploading them when you return.
Goods inward and delivery verification
Check cartons against the invoice at the loading bay, scanning e-way and delivery QR codes from a driver's phone as well as printed carton labels.
Restaurants, hotels and hospital stores
Table-side or ward-side scanning, kitchen and linen store issues, and asset checks in areas where running a cable is impractical.
