Product Description
This RGB LED Module packs a full-spectrum, three-color LED onto a compact breakout board with built-in current-limiting resistors, making it plug-and-play for Arduino and other microcontroller platforms. By driving the Red, Green, and Blue pins independently using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), you can blend over 16.7 million unique colors - from soft pastels to bold, saturated hues.
The module uses a simple 4-pin interface: one pin for each color channel and a common ground. No external resistors or driver circuits are needed - just connect to your digital or PWM-capable GPIO pins, upload a few lines of code, and you're creating dynamic color effects in minutes. The breadboard-friendly header pins ensure quick prototyping without soldering.
Whether you're building a mood lamp, a visual notification system, a color-mixing educational demo, or adding status indicators to a robotics project, this module delivers reliable, vivid illumination in a tiny footprint.
How It Works
The RGB LED Module contains three individual LEDs (Red, Green, Blue) housed in a single package with a common cathode (ground). Each color channel is connected to a dedicated pin on the breakout board. By applying a voltage to each pin - and varying the duty cycle using PWM - you control the brightness of each color independently. When combined, the three channels blend additively to produce any color in the visible spectrum.
Basic Wiring (Arduino Uno):
- R Pin -> Arduino Digital Pin 9 (PWM)
- G Pin -> Arduino Digital Pin 10 (PWM)
- B Pin -> Arduino Digital Pin 11 (PWM)
- GND Pin -> Arduino GND
Quick-Start Code Example:
// RGB LED Module - Color Cycle Demo
int redPin = 9; int greenPin = 10; int bluePin = 11; void setup() { pinMode(redPin, OUTPUT); pinMode(greenPin, OUTPUT); pinMode(bluePin, OUTPUT); } void loop() { setColor(255, 0, 0); // Red delay(1000); setColor(0, 255, 0); // Green delay(1000); set
