How the LDR Sensor Module Works
The core of this module is a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) - a passive component whose electrical resistance decreases as light intensity increases. In bright conditions, the LDR resistance drops to as low as a few hundred ohms; in complete darkness, it rises to several megaohms. This resistance change is converted into a measurable voltage through a voltage divider circuit on the PCB.
The analog output (A0) provides this raw voltage directly, giving you a continuous reading proportional to ambient light - perfect for data logging, dimming controls, or light intensity graphs. The digital output (D0) passes through the LM393 comparator, which compares the LDR voltage against a reference voltage set by the onboard potentiometer. When light drops below your set threshold, D0 goes HIGH (or LOW, depending on configuration), triggering an event - ideal for automatic street lights, day/night switches, or alarm systems.
