Product Overview

The Honeywell MS5145 Eclipse is a single-line handheld laser barcode scanner built for everyday counter work. It uses a visible laser diode at 650 nm and reads 72 scan lines per second, so a barcode is picked up the moment you point at it. It carries Honeywell's CodeGate technology, which lets the operator aim at exactly the barcode they want and send the data only when the button is pressed β€” useful when several barcodes sit close together on one label sheet.

This is a workhorse for Indian kirana stores, medical shops, garment showrooms and small supermarkets billing on Tally, Marg, Vyapar, Busy or any Windows POS. Over USB it behaves like a keyboard, so the scanned code drops straight into whatever billing field the cursor is sitting in. No software to install, no drivers to hunt for. If your counter runs 1D barcodes β€” EAN-13 on packaged goods, Code 128 on pharmacy strips, or your own printed labels β€” the MS5145 is the simple, proven option.

Key Features

  • Single scan line laser, visible laser diode at 650 nm Β± 10 nm
  • 72 scan lines per second for quick, repeatable reads at a busy counter
  • CodeGate technology β€” aim first, then press to transmit, so you never send the wrong code
  • Reads Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, UPC/EAN/JAN, Codabar, MSI Plessey, GS1 DataBar and more
  • Four host interfaces in the family: USB, RS232, keyboard wedge and IBM 468xx (RS485)
  • Seven selectable beep tones, or silent operation; green LED for ready, red for good read
  • Light at 100 g, so the hand does not tire across a long billing shift

Why Choose This Product?

The MS5145 is a 1D laser, not a 2D imager, and that is the whole decision. If everything you scan is a printed barcode on a product, a strip or a label, a laser is the faster and cheaper tool, and the Eclipse has been on Indian counters for years for exactly that reason. Spares, cables and stands are easy to find, and staff need no training beyond point and press.

Be clear about what it will not do. It cannot read QR codes, and it cannot read a barcode or UPI QR shown on a customer's phone screen β€” that needs a 2D imager. Its range is short by design, about 140 mm on a standard 13 mil retail barcode. If you need to scan cartons at the bottom of a trolley or read codes off screens, look at the Voyager XP 1470g instead. For a straight 1D billing counter, this does the job without you paying for capability you will not use.

Applications

Kirana and supermarket billing

Scan EAN-13 codes on packaged food, soaps and beverages into your billing software. CodeGate stops multi-barcode labels being read by accident.

Pharmacy and medical stores

Read Code 128 and Code 39 on medicine strips and cartons for batch and expiry tracking, straight into your GST invoice.

Garment and footwear showrooms

Read printed hang-tag labels at the trial room and the counter. The 100 g body suits staff scanning hundreds of tags during a sale.

Stock taking and document tracking

Shelf audits, godown counts and file tracking where barcodes are printed on paper and read at close range.

What's Included in the Box

Standard pack: scanner plus USB cable. Contents vary by part number and kit β€” message us on WhatsApp with the part number you need and we will confirm before you order.

How to Use

  1. Click the interface cable into the base of the scanner, then plug the other end into your PC or billing machine.
  2. Wait for the green LED. Over USB, Windows detects it as a keyboard, so no driver install is needed.
  3. Open your billing software and click into the item or barcode field so the cursor is blinking there.
  4. Point at the barcode from 5–14 cm depending on label size and press the button. A beep and a red flash confirm a good read.
  5. To change beep tone, keyboard language or suffix, scan the setup barcodes from the Honeywell user guide for your part number.

GST invoice with every order. 7-day money-back on manufacturing defects. Fast delivery across India.
