Key Features of Flame sensor
- Dual Output Modes: Digital output for simple flame detection and analog output for measuring flame intensity, giving you maximum flexibility.
- Adjustable Sensitivity: Onboard potentiometer lets you fine-tune the detection threshold to eliminate false triggers in your specific environment.
- Wide Voltage Compatibility: Operates seamlessly at both 3.3V and 5V, making it plug-and-play with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and more.
- Compact & Mountable: Small form factor with M3 mounting holes for easy integration into enclosures, robots, and industrial panels.
How It Works
The flame sensor module uses an infrared (IR) photodiode to detect electromagnetic radiation in the 760-1100 nm wavelength range - the signature spectrum emitted by open flames. When a flame enters the sensor's detection cone, the IR photodiode generates a proportional voltage signal. The onboard LM393 comparator processes this signal against a user-adjustable threshold set via the potentiometer. If the detected intensity exceeds the threshold, the digital output pin goes LOW (active low), and the status LED illuminates. Simultaneously, the analog output pin provides a continuous voltage reading proportional to flame intensity, enabling more nuanced fire monitoring and data logging.
Pin Configuration
| Pin | Label | Description |
| 1 | VCC | Power supply input (3.3V - 5V DC) |
| 2 | GND | Ground connection |
| 3 | DO | Digital output - LOW when flame detected, HIGH otherwise |
| 4 | AO | Analog output - voltage proportional to flame intensity |
