Key Features
- High-current switching: Handle loads up to 10A at 250V AC - control lights, fans, pumps, solenoids, and more
- Optocoupler isolation: Protects your microcontroller from high-voltage spikes and back-EMF
- SPDT output: Three screw terminals (NO, NC, COM) give you both normally-open and normally-closed configurations
- Status LED: Onboard indicator lights up when the relay is energized - easy visual debugging
- Simple 3-pin interface: VCC, GND, and Signal - plug directly into Arduino or breadboard headers
- Compact footprint: Small PCB size fits easily into enclosures and prototype builds
- Active-low trigger: Logic LOW activates the relay, compatible with most microcontroller GPIO outputs

How It Works
A relay is an electrically operated switch. When your microcontroller sends a LOW signal to the input pin, the onboard optocoupler triggers the relay coil, which mechanically flips an internal switch. This allows a low-power 5V logic signal to safely control high-power AC or DC loads - such as household appliances, motors, or lighting - while keeping the control circuit completely isolated from the power circuit.
The module provides three output terminals: COM (Common), NO (Normally Open - disconnected when relay is off, connected when on), and NC (Normally Closed - connected when relay is off, disconnected when on). Choose NO for devices you want to turn ON with the relay, or NC for devices that should stay ON by default and turn OFF when triggered.
Project Ideas
- Home Automation: Switch lights, fans, and appliances on/off remotely using Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth control
- Smart Irrigation System: Automate a water pump or solenoid valve based on soil moisture sensor readings
- IoT Remote Switch: Pair with an ESP8266/ESP32 and Blynk or MQTT to control any appliance from your smartphone anywhere in the world
- Timed Appliance Controller: Use an RTC module to schedule appliances - automatic fish feeder, grow lights, or security lighting
- Temperature-Activated Fan: Connect a temperature sensor (DHT11/LM35) and trigger a cooling fan when temperature exceeds a threshold
- Door Lock System: Drive an electromagnetic lock or solenoid lock with RFID, keypad, or fingerprint authentication
- Motor Direction Control: Combine two relay modules to build an H-bridge for reversing DC motor direction
- Learning & Education: Perfect for students learning about digital outputs, transistor switching, electromagnetism, and embedded systems
