The IRLZ44N is a logic-level N-channel power MOSFET in a through-hole TO-220 (DIP-3) package, popular with Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects because it switches fully on from a 3.3V or 5V GPIO pin without needing a gate driver. It's rated for up to 55V drain-to-source and a continuous drain current of 47A, giving plenty of headroom for typical hobby power-switching jobs.
Low RDS(on) keeps conduction losses and heat generation down when switching motors, LED strips, or other DC loads, and the through-hole leads make it easy to breadboard or solder into a perfboard build. It's a common building block for PWM motor control, high-current LED dimming, and DIY SMPS or battery-management circuits.
