Struggling to get a clear shot in low light or through infrared with a standard camera module? The Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module V2 - 8MP 1080P30 is built to work around exactly that limitation, and it's available at Tech Depot India for Rs 2,417 here: Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module V2 - 8MP 1080P30.
What is the Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module V2?
A standard camera sensor has an infrared filter built in, which normally improves colour accuracy in daylight but blocks the camera from picking up infrared light. "NoIR" simply means "no infrared filter" — so this module is designed to let infrared light through, which is the real solution when your project needs to see in conditions a regular camera struggles with, such as low light paired with an infrared light source. As the name states, it's version 2 of Raspberry Pi's NoIR module, rated at 8 megapixels with 1080p video capture at 30 frames per second. Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module V2 - 8MP 1080P30 projects — what you can build
If your project's problem is poor visibility in low-light or infrared-lit conditions, this module is generally the fix people reach for in setups like:
- Nighttime wildlife or garden monitoring cameras paired with an infrared light source.
- Indoor security cameras that need to keep working after the lights go off.
- Scientific or agricultural projects studying plant health under infrared conditions.
- Astrophotography experiments where standard filters get in the way of capturing certain light.
- DIY night-vision setups for home or workshop monitoring.
These are sensible directions given what a NoIR module is built to solve, not tested performance claims — actual results depend on your lighting setup and software.
