Just picked up a Raspberry Pi 400 or a favourite mechanical keyboard and want to keep it scratch-free when it's not on your desk? The Adafruit 5293 Felt Sleeve Case for Keyboards or Raspberry Pi 400 is in stock at Tech Depot India for Rs 1,133, and you can grab it right here: Adafruit 5293 Felt Sleeve Case for Keyboards or Raspberry Pi 400. Let's get into what it is and where it fits into a maker's setup.
What is the Felt Sleeve Case?
Exactly what it says on the label — this is Adafruit's 5293, a soft felt sleeve made to slide over a keyboard-shaped device, and since the Raspberry Pi 400 lives inside a keyboard body, the same sleeve does double duty protecting either a standard keyboard or your Pi 400 rig. No clips, no screws, just a snug fabric cover you slip on and off.
If you're the type who likes tossing gear in a backpack between hackathons, meetups or the office, a sleeve like this is the kind of unglamorous-but-useful accessory that saves your Pi 400 (or keyboard) from dust and dings. Full sizing and fit notes are on the Felt Sleeve Case product page.
Adafruit 5293 Felt Sleeve Case for Keyboards or Raspberry Pi 400 projects — what you can build
- A protective travel sleeve for a Raspberry Pi 400 you carry to workshops or classes
- A dust cover for your Pi 400 setup when it's parked on a shelf between projects
- A soft case for a mechanical keyboard you're equally precious about
- A simple way to keep your maker desk looking tidy when gear isn't in use
- A lightweight addition to a "grab and go" portable Pi 400 kit
Choosing the right one for your project
Since this is a sleeve rather than a rigid case, the main thing to nail down before ordering is that it's actually sized for your Pi 400 or keyboard — the product page will confirm dimensions and fit. If you're also hunting for ways to keep a bare Raspberry Pi 4 board cool while it's out of its sleeve and running, our maker-friendly options for Pi 4B are compared below, since a felt sleeve is about protection while at rest, not thermal management while active.
